Polar

I want to step inside Lina Sheynius' sun-bleached, under-exposed, soft-focus world, where nothing matters except hanging out in my pool with a lingering sense of doom on the back of my mind.

Bella Donna

Sartorialist

I don't usually subscribe to the sleek, expensive Italian style, but the more I stare at this photo the more alluring I find the combination. A potentially boring classic outfit saved by a borderline bad taste wet look overload and the most perfect shoes in the world. I suspect they're Loubs but if anyone has any info on the shoes I seriously want to know.

Mmm

Source unknown

Had a dreamy weekend.

Treehouses

Yoinked from here.

I spent Friday afternoon wandering around Hampstead Heath, deciding what puppies we want to buy, looking at the ducks and other such super productive things. Our most important discussion was when we decided that adult treehouses definitely do exist, and that we will definitely be installing one as soon as we own a house with a garden bigger than 2 postage stamps. Amazon treehouses do the best ones by far!

Rock rock rock to the beat for ya boy

This post is dedicated to Kathryn, probably the Dream's biggest fan.

dan estabrook

Click above to listen to this track from the controversial Southerngold mix tape - Terry Urban basically mashing songs from the Santigold album with hip hop classics. Some are great and others are really bad. I recommend a listen if you can find it!

Photography like film stills. Found here.

Ruven Afanador

Go to his website immediately! Lots of unusual bits on display. I like his eye for structure.

Hi granny

awesome lady

One more from Arthur Elgort.

Musubi Musubi

Amazing art direction and styling from (according to google translator) Musubi Aoki, who started with visual merchandising and interiors and now freelances as stylist, prop maker and creative director, amongst other things. There are about 100 more beautiful images on the site.

Alex Rose

Alex Rose is another dreamy previous exhibitor at Envoy.

Game of Love and Chance

Look at the entrance to the French artist Nicholas Buffe's recent installation at Envoy Enterprises in New York. Sadly it ended on 31st May, but there are more photos on the Envoy website (linked above). His work varies in content, theme and media but it's always black and white.

Athur Elgort

I spent a lovely afternoon last week, in between job interviews and a facial, at the Borders Starbucks on Charing Cross road with a sugary coffee and a huge pile of glossies. Among them were the dreamy American mags that I never buy but love to read. There's a bridal shoot by Arthur Elgort (in typical conservative US Vogue style that he is partly responsible for as a regular contributor) and here are some assorted ballerina shots from years and years ago. See his website for Kate Moss on an elephant in Nepal and some wrinkly, wise looking jazz players. The handsome gentleman in the first picture is not him, but I am going to imagine that it is.

Jacob Sutton

Some interesting experiments by Jacob Sutton. They look great but I can't help but wonder about the state of the poor boy's lungs at the end of the shoot.

In honour of Charlotte Gainsbourg's new Elle photos (found here) and her Cannes award winning performance in the new Lars von Trier film, which has traumatised a number of my friends who haven't even seen it yet. See below.

Complex Geometries

I'm scared that the last week was the entirety of the English summer, and for the rest of the year it will by icy and pouring with rain (as today). However, these shots of the new Complex Geometries white tee project (by the fabulous Jak + Jil blog) make me hopeful for more skin scorching weather, if not here then when I retreat to Italy at the end of July. Can't wait!

Also go here to have a look at my bestie's interview with Dummy Magazine, and make sure you listen to his mix- Natasha, Britney, Richgirl and all your favourite divas rolled into one.

Sugar sugar

<

Maria Bantjes is so cool. She created these images from sugar for Stefan Sagmeister's book, 'Things I Have Learned in my Life so Far'. Her comissions are really diverse, and can be seen on her website. My favourite are the drawings she did that were re-interpreted by designers for Saks into really high end jewellery. I don't usually do this, but here is how she describes her own work:

'This is really hard, and I hate doing it. I sometimes say “graphic artist” but it usually requires more descriptors like “A lot of custom lettering, ornament, sometimes patterns … a graphic designer but also an illustrator of sorts; a typographer.” Confusing enough?'
