Cape Update!

 

 

 

 

I think my hunt for the perfect cape might finally be over. Last night I purchased this beauty from Nasty Gal Vintage (for probably a little bit too much money but it's still at least 60% cheaper than the other capes I've been dreaming about). Super excited about it arriving! NOT excited about the customs duties I'll probably have to pay on arrival. I've already matched it to at least three pairs of shoes that I own, now just need a cute arm-crook bag/servant to deal with all of my things when I'm wearing it. Recently my friend Sophie threw a party, and another friend Christiana and I decided it would be an excellent idea to stuff a fluffy towel up her dress and pretend she was pregnant all night, whilst behaving very badly. She looked fabulous! Essentially, there are few things chicer than a beautifully dressed pregnant woman, fake or otherwise (fake is bound to provide a neater bump). Something Meisel demonstrates here with aplomb.

Best Behaviour

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Although I sometimes go through phases whereby I wear things that vaguely show my figure, I mostly love clothes that look like they don't fit, but are actually skillfully sculpted and draped. Danish designers Best Behaviour are the best example of this that I have found for a long time (I HATE the hats and shoes but they are easy to ignore amidst such excellent layering).

I am finally ready to stop wearing black everyday, and embrace something that, though not necessarily more cheerful, is definitely a step towards a brighter disposition.

Since the mid-1970s she has chosen to live in a mental home in Tokyo, which is a short distance from her studio. She claims to have experienced severe obsessive thoughts and hallucinations since early childhood, with the vast array of polka dots ('infinity nets') taken directly from her hallucinations.

Usually I think it's lazy and pointless to quote a designer's 'about me' section, but the Ivana Helsinki biography says much more than I could (cute knits, first Finnish designer ever to show at Paris Fashion Week, diffusion line for Topshop that I have bought into) about the label's inspirations and ethos:

Rachel Unthank & the Winterset - Blackbird

I haven't managed to find much information about Zara Wood, apart from that she lives in Brighton (which makes me wonder why I haven't heard of her until today, as her art is stocked in at least two of my favourite Brighton stores) and has a new line of clothes for Topshop that I kind of want to buy, despite the fact that I have never previously entertained buying any garment with a cartoon print on it.
