Rare Bird of Fashion

Friends, readers, loved ones... It's my 23rd birthday on 9th August, I've just landed my dream PR job and I think I deserve a treat. I'd like to request a copy of this book. Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel chronicles part of the amazing clothing and accessory collection of one of New York's most iconic women.

Official blurb:

A true original: this lavishly photographed book captures the style of American fashion maverick Iris Apfel, who, over the past forty years, has cultivated a personal chic that is exuberantly idiosyncratic. Combining genres, colours, textures and patterns without regard to period, provenance or, ultimately, aesthetic convention, she is one of the few style icons of our time. Here, in over ninety sumptuous colour plates, Eric Boman shows off a selection of her extraordinary outfits on wittily posed mannequins.

Now for your viewing pleasure - a few shots of the icon in action:

R. Berkley

I came across a fair few amazing items when I was gift hunting for my other half before our six year anniversary on 4th June. One thing I will say is that I'm glad Urban Outfitters has branched out into strange, retro framed animal portraiture. I don't know how I lived without them. I also love the realistic photography avec carefully chosen chairs.

Here I Come

The Sartorialist has introduced a project whereby he posts vintage photos that readers send in. I think this is a fantastic idea, yielding great photos with very interesting stories. The photo below particularly caught my eye...

All I know is that it's someone's parent on her honeymoon. It looks like she's having the best time.

They Call Me Smokey Taboo...

I love the new Coco Rosie album. It's called Grey Oceans and I've posted a track above as a taster. I recommend a listen!
